The Forty & Eight is the fun and honor society of veterans of all wars.  It was created in 1920 and draws its origin from World War 1 when millions of American soldiers in France were transported to the front in narrow French box cars called "Voitures" which would hold 40 men or eight horses.  Drawing on those experiences, La Societe des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux (The Society of 40 Men or 8 Horses) was formed.  Membership is by invitation only and supports a Nurses Training Scholarship program, various child welfare programs and provides aid to fellow Veterans.

Scholarship applications can be gotten by calling Jerry Block at 612-616-4434.  The main requirement is the end result of schooling is obtaining a BS degree in Nursing.

December 1st Promenade in Hutchinson after a smoked pork chop dinner

PROMENADE at HAHN'S in WINTHROP, MN

Fish-Eye View of the November 3rd Promenade at Hahn's Supper Club in Winthrop, MN.  Social Distancing, Great B.B.Q. Rib dinner started out an interesting evening.  A lot of discussion on the Nurse's Training Scholarship Program.  Foundation member Don Walser gave a rundown on options that might be available in the future to consider.  Even Chef de Gare Dave Heidebrink has his arm crossed contemplating what is all being said.  Great Promenade.

VOITURE 414 CONSISTS OF OVER 120 HARD WORKING MEMBERS WHO WORK FOR VETERANS, COMMUNITY AND CHILDREN AND YOUTH PROGRAMS.  PLUS WE STRIVE TO PRESENT "RN" SCHOLARSHIPS EVERY YEAR TO 4 YEAR STUDENT NURSES.  IF YOU ARE A HARD WORKING VETERAN WE HAVE A PLACE FOR YOU IN THE FORTY AND EIGHT.
